  1. Research and Planning 14/20 (B)

You have completed sound research into similar products and the target audience. Draft work is evident. To improve further summarise the key things you found out from your audience research (who are your target audience? What do they want to see in your magazine?) and explain how this will help you to produce a successful magazine. You also need to complete a production plan.

    Production 41/60 (C)

Your magazine demonstrates some excellent understanding of genre conventions, and good use of font and colour. It is currently too inconsistent to achieve the higher grade your product suggests you are capabale of. The front cover makes good use of font, colour, image, and layout. To improve futher fill in the empty space below the competition at the top of the page (e.g. with band names). Consider moving your main coverline down, and including more coverlines. Make the font of the live review coverline stand out more, and move the price/date/issue together. Your contents page makes good use of a house style and layout. Caption the images on the page to make it clear which story they relate to. You may want to consider taking another set of photos which clearly relate to the magazine. Your main image seems a bit stretched and there is a lot of empty space at the top of it. Your double page spread is the weakest part of your product. You need to consider how to make your use of font, colour, layout, and image more conventional. You could, for example, have one main image on one page, and the text on the other page. Consider taking more conventional images.
