The colour is made to stand out from each other. They use the black, red and white, so that the writing is bolder and clearer.  

They use the route of the eye. It starts off with the title of the magazine, cuts across the main image, along the coverlines, then down into the terminal area where the reviews are. This is done to make it very easy for people to find what they want to find.

The hotspots are placed on the main story image, on the cover lines, the review and on the “every month” section. This makes it clear for the reader to find what they want.

Evaluation

How have we used media conventions?

For my preliminary task i made a school magazine. For my layout i followed the route of the eye by using the masthead>image>story and the hotspots>image>image>story. This follows the conventions as it makes it easy to read and follow. The colours i used were white, red, yellow and black. I put the text in bright colours when the background was dark and made the text dark when the background is light. This makes the text stand out and makes it look a lot clearer.

Technologies used

I used a digital camera to take my photos. I then uploaded it onto the computer and manipulated my photo with macromedia fireworks 8. I I used Microsoft publisher to create my magazine.

Skills that have developed

I have developed my analysis skills. I have done this by analysing several different contents pages and front covers. I have developed my skills on photography. M y research skills have improved too.

Skills that need to be developed.

I will need to improve on mise-en-scene. To do this I will have to include more props in my pictures. I will need to develop my variation of fonts, colour schemes and improve my layout, and make sure I leave less empty space.
